We liked the fact that Schneider Electric’s solution – racks, power protection and distribution, cooling, security and management software had all been designed to work together. “We knew from visiting other data centres that hot aisle containment (HACS) would be an effective way to cool equipment with variable power density. In addition to eliminating the need for a raised floor environment, it would also reduce ongoing operating expenses through the efficiency of the cooling system. We wanted to ensure we minimised cost whilst providing cooling levels appropriate to the IT load and eliminating risk of hot spots.” Spitfire Networks use Netbotz hardware and software for monitoring equipment and the environment within the Core Network Node and the generator room. Working as a form of BMS, Netbotz ensures the operation of the generator, fire suppression and switch gear. In addition, the company is using StruxureWare Data Center Expert for facility operations.
“The StruxureWare software has brought a lot of transparency to our energy costs, which we never had before. It has helped us in the choices we make, for example, in the selection of servers for certain applications. We’ve been quite surprised at the big difference between the quoted nameplate information and the actual power consumption we’ve experienced with some of the IT.”
